Over the past year we have been providing irrefutable evidence that "The Longer in Congress, the more Corrupt they become!" is far more than simple rhetoric.
We have shown evidence of preferential treatment towards lobbyists and the industries they support; earmarks for friends and family; family members that are actually lobbyists themselves; and the abnormally large percentage of Congress members that eventually move on to become lobbyists with exorbitant salaries.
Throughout this time, the most common responses we heard were "We'll throw them out this November." or "Don't vote for Incumbents." or "We'll show them how we feel in November."
That seemed to be the common mentality. We'll fix the problems with voting and that Term Limits would be nice, but again, we'll fix it in November when we vote.
Hopefully you've seen at least one or two of the posts since last week's elections. By now some of you may be getting tired of the focus of the topic that we are harping on.
There are few that will argue with the concept that Congress should not be a career and that they do actually become more disassociated and corrupt the longer they are there. But, the results of the 2014 Mid-Term Elections creates an irrefutable argument that WE WILL NOT FIX THE PROBLEMS WITH CORRUPT, CAREER POLITICIANS IN CONGRESS WITH VOTING!
We've harped again and again on the fact that the voting system is broken. It is manipulated by party power, money, and social apathy.
NOW THE PROOF STANDS BEFORE US AND WE MUST PUT IT IN FRONT OF AMERICA!
With a 12% approval rating that at one point dropped down to 9% and with 60% of Americans less than a year ago saying that they would like to FIRE EVERY MEMBER OF CONGRESS, over 90% of the incumbents that ran for re-election WON and are going back to DC to continue their damaging relationships with the same industries that have been funding the campaigns on both sides of the aisle for many decades.
There was NO major purge or surge in Congress, as the media keeps saying... Over 90% of the SAME politicians are there. 3 Incumbents lost in the Senate and 13 lost in the House.... The other seats were seats in which Incumbents had retired..
We need to make people realize that no matter how disgusted we are with their performance, Incumbents STILL WIN! When we accomplish this, the mentality of "we'll fix it in the next election" will begin to change to "we need Term Limits."
When you see a post that proves the point that VOTING DOESN'T WORK, don't turn away because YOU already know that. Recognize that YOU are a messenger to the many that still need to be taught.
